There are places to go swim if you like public pools (I don't, especially when everyone else is half your size), but they are geared toward families and can be expensive. The ocean... ick. I haven't seen many beaches around here that looked nice.
I'm actually pretty pissed off because we just dropped 70,000 yen on a new A/C unit and that night the news said we were over the worst heat of the year. Seriously? Earlier in the week they were saying it was going to get over 40 degrees... I thought August would be hotter, but who knows? Apparently typhoons are cooling us down... argh.
ugh yeah pools... are kind of icky >_> (especially with all the tiny japanese people... i'm going to an onsen hotel tomorrow for a school trip and not really looking forward to the being unclothed part >_>)
The beach I went to was like... brown. And... really not that nice, even with my horrible canadian standards for beaches...
I think it'll probably get a lot hotter again, not that I watch the weather though... If it doesn't get hotter i'll be kind of mad because I have some friends coming to tokyo in august from england and I wanted to watch them melt in the heat X'DD
That really sucks about the air conditioner though... but I suppose it's an investment? Or at least you won't need to replace it or worry about it breaking down for a while.
We can at least use it as a heater come winter. I would be really shocked if August was a mild month, it's usually the worst. And so many comic events, bleh.
Ah, onsen school trips... I hate onsen because the first few times I went I totally got grabbed. It was just like a lame anime. Also, that is how I found out Japanese people do not trim or shave...down there.... whereas I... well....
...it was embarrassing, to say the least. I have a friend who makes me go with her anytime she is in Japan, though XD
